RANCHO ESMERALDA BIRDING and NATURE ADVENTURE
history expedition to explore beautiful, lush and cool, Rancho Esmeralda in Sonora, Mexico. This 20,000 acre eco-tourism ranch encompasses a diversity of habitats (streams, side canyons,oak woodland ) that feature well over 100 species of birds, including rose-throated becards, elegant trogons, thick-billed kingbirds, sulphur -bellied flycatchers, black hawks, gray hawks, yellow-billed cuckoos, hummingbirds and varied buntings, plus a diversity of other wildlife (deer, coatis, ringtail cats, turkeys, etc.) Each day we venture out on different walks with our expert guides to look at birds, plants,
butterflies, reptiles and amphibians and of course, beautiful scenery. We’ll blacklight at night for all kinds of incredible and beautiful insects and we’ll have a chance to see bats up close and personal while bat netting. We’ll look and listen for owls, night birds and other night creatures as well on our night walk. The trip includes van transportation from Tucson (1˝ hour drive), 3 nights accommodations at the elegantly rustic Rancho Esmeralda Lodge, all meals and activities, plus expert guides. (Guided horseback rides and massages can be added for an additional fee.)
